By Car

From whichever direction you are approaching Birmingham, Aston University is best reached from the M6. Click here for a map of the road and motorway network around the Birmingham area.

Exit the M6 at Junction 6, and follow signs for the A38(M) to the city centre. Ignore signs to 'Aston'
Stay on the A38(M) (Aston Expressway) for about two miles until you reach the third exit. This is just after you pass the overhead 'end of motorway' signs. Aston University is signposted from here.
You will then pass the Aston University Main Building on your left.
Filter left, and at the Lancaster Circus roundabout (next to the Fire Station) take the first exit into James Watt Queensway, then second left into Stafford Street (you will pass the new Lakeside Residences on your left) and finally first left again into Coleshill Street.
Access to the car park is gained by using the security intercom at the left-hand barrier. Before leaving the car park, you will need to ask the School/Office you are visiting for an exit token.
Click here for a detailed map of Birmingham's central area, showing how to get to Aston University. It's a very large image on screen, but should print out onto one A4 sheet.

Birmingham New Street Station is the nearest main-line station to Aston University, just 12 minutes' walk away. Direct services arrive here from all parts of the UK.

To walk to the campus from Birmingham New Street Station,

Go up the escalator directly ahead of the ticket barriers, then turn left into the Pallasades shopping mall.
Walk towards the exit, then down the pedestrian ramp from the mall to street level. This is New Street, a bustling shopping street.
Cross the road on to Corporation Street, straight ahead, then follow this main shopping street for half a mile. You will pass the large Rackham's Department Store on your left.
The route continues down Corporation Street (Aston University/Aston Triangle is signposted) until you reach the underpass. After the underpass (beneath James Watt Queensway), either go straight ahead up the steps on to the campus, or for the Main Building, turn left, walk up the slope and turn right into Aston Street. Just after the mini-roundabout and opposite the zebra crossing you will see the Main Building with its distinctive red and blue sky lifts.
Taxis can be hired from the taxi rank through the doors to the left of the escalators at New Street Station and cost around £3.00 to the University. There is also a taxi rank on Campus on Aston Street.
